Cathy Wallwork – VTC Financial Director

With a well proven track record of delivering high quality finance and administration support to her clients, Cathy is a qualified bookkeeper and VAT specialist with 30 years of related experience. She is a conscientious, attention-to-detail and result-driven personality with an infectious love for humour and wellbeing. Cathy has worked with various types of businesses from startups, to well established companies offering a wide range of financial, compliance and administrative support services. Cathy appreciates that each business is different in nature and is passionate about helping her clients achieve their objectives and goals. In her new challenging and exciting role as the Finance Director for Virtual Training Centre Limited, Cathy is looking forward to working alongside our growing number of subject matter expert course authors to deliver relevant and content rich courses to our customers in the various sectors we are targeting.

Stephen L. Richards CMAS – VTC Director of Services

A former UK Royal Marines Commando, UK DfT MCA Approved Trainer, Certified Master Antiterrorism Specialist and Director of Services for Virtual Training Centre Limited. Steve possesses over twenty-five years in both the Elite Military and Private Security Sectors. Steve is also the Chief Executive Officer for Executive Security & Training Services Limited (ESTS International). Steve registered the business as a Limited Company in 2004 and specialises in high-level security training and consultancy services. Steve has travelled around the world in operational roles (managing PSD teams in several high-profile contracts in Iraq and Afghanistan), trained Law Enforcement SWAT Team Personnel in Connecticut, USA, NGO Staff in the USA, UK, the Middle East, numerous Maritime Security & Ship’s Crew and aided in the concept and build of the first HECPO (PSD) Courses ran in the United Kingdom (2003). Steve is currently focusing his talents on growing the online security side of Virtual Training Centre Limited and assisting the company in gaining ISO9001:2015, Investors in People and CPD Approval.

Mark de Nes BBA, CAS

Mark possesses a Bachelor in Business Administration from the Hanze University Groningen (International Business School). As an internationally oriented managerial professional Mark has gained extensive experience in Managing Digital Campaigns and Project Management roles within an international context. Fostering client
relationships and internal stakeholders within new markets and sectors is his main focus. Besides the
business development phase, Mark is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the projects and interests of the clients throughout the project life-cycle. With a broad interest in the client and the markets he actively seeks
opportunities using a broader vision to enhance the company’s position and predict the market movement
ahead of the game. Mark is also a former member of the Korps Mariniers, Doorn, The Netherlands (Royal Netherlands Marine Corps) and has seen active duty and been heavily involved with NATO Peacekeeping missions.

Simon King MSc, PgCert Grad IOSH

Simon spent 15 years as a Police Officer including 5 years as a police motorway traffic officer. In this time many hours were spent investigating incidents and accidents including fatal traffic accidents. Since 2009 Simon has been involved in an HSSE department working for an International Oil Company during the construction phase of their Central Processing Facility (CPF), and he now works for an internationally-recognised company in the HSSE department during yet another construction phase of an oil and gas structure. Simon is an HSSE advisor to the company, providing knowledge and advice for the project. Simon is a graduate member of IOSH, hold OSHA certification and has taught Health and Safety to hundreds of staff during oil and gas construction. Simon is continually educating himself with the latest rules and regulations so he remains current in all aspects of UK and American Health and Safety regulations.

Rebecca Stevens B.Sc. (Hons), MSc., C.Psychol

As a Chartered Psychologist, through her business Work Brighter Ltd, Rebecca helps hiring managers and organisations recruit or promote the right person who fits the role and organisation; she also helps develop the person and the team to be the best they can be. Rebecca is registered as a Practitioner Occupational Psychologist with the Health Professions Council and a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society Division of Occupational Psychology. In 2016 Rebecca won the Association of Business Psychology’s award for Excellence in Employee Assessment for her work with Greater Manchester Police. Rebecca has extensive specialist experience in the design and development of recruitment strategy and tools including: sifting tools such as Situational Judgement Tests and telephone interviews, the application of ability and personality tests, design and delivery of assessment centre exercises and competency and strengths based interviews, as well as the statistical and qualitative evaluation of the impact of these on long-term performance. As part of her work with her clients she trains HR personnel and hiring managers in skills to design, deliver and assess these tools they’ve implemented as part of their recruitment and development processes.

For nearly thirty years Jay has been building resilience within some of the most challenging and dangerous environments around the world. Globally he is now establishing a new grass-root resilience building capability within school, home, work and community locations. The founder of SEDi, an international Social Emotional Development learning & incubation infrastructure, Jay is also a popular international speaker. In all his work, he provides fascinating insights into how to tangibly establish emotional resilience, engagement and self-sufficiency – irrespective of the location or culture.

After taking Art Education to a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art, Chris lived and worked abroad for 7 years building a wide range of experience and images for his portfolio. After returning to his hometown of Manchester and setting up Chris Foster Photography in 2005 he has established a successful business, regularly supplying images to newspapers, magazines, universities, museums, agencies and various public and private institutions. From the challenges of working in Outer Mongolia and Northern Norway to the pressures of weddings and celebrity portraiture Chris’ portfolio reflects this diversity. His formal training in the arts ensures a creative and imaginative approach to any commission built on a solid understanding of artistic principles, essential in capturing that special image. His unique experience as both a teacher and photographer places him perfectly for photographic training.

Dave has studied a wide variety of Martial Arts over an impressive 30 year period, always on the look out for the common denominating factors that exist between them. Between this study and over ten years working within the Private Security Sector prior to opening his own full time Martial Arts and Fitness Gym (The Wild Geese Martial Arts Academy), Dave has amassed a impressive wealth of information and experience and delivers training in an exciting, structured and professional manner. Dave’s Self Defence courses are a distillation of the training and real-life, ‘on the tin’ experience he’s amassed over the many years training, teaching and working within this field. In Dave’s words, the information is “fluff free and proven”. Proven not just by himself, but by those he’s studied and those he’s taught. Dave has worked alongside the Directors of both the Virtual Training Centre and our Strategic Partner, ESTS International advising on course structure, content and the provision of video material into the courses he has designed.

Nick Bishop

With a background at Senior Level in both Insurance & Financial Services, Nick established his own consultancy in 2005. (www.nickbishopsolutions.co.uk) Nick is trained in a number of coaching methodologies and uses his skills to generate “best performance” in both teams and individuals. He brings his own methodology “RAIL” (Reflect/Analyse/Implement/Learn) to allow for improved learning outcomes. Nick has worked with a range of SME’s, Corporates and International organisations both at home and overseas. Nick has considerable experience e-learning, being the author of eBook “My Best Version of Me”, and was using the concept of blended learning (online and face to face) in a project spanning two years in Africa and a 120 day project with the NHS, over five years ago. Nick has been asked to judge at the UK Customer Service Training Awards for the last four years, and at the WOW Awards in 2015 and 2016. His first-hand knowledge and experience of what it takes to be a winner has been used to very practical effect.

Sarah Spicer

Sarah has taught English to students from around the world for over ten years. After gaining a BSc in Psychology in 2006, she spent 4 years in Thailand, teaching and developing English language courses for young and adult learners. In 2010 she moved back to Manchester, where she completed an MA in Applied Linguistics and worked in a language school developing business and academic courses for students from the Middle East, Europe and South America.

Since then, she has spent a year in Japan working as a language instructor at Tokyo University of Science and an Academic English tutor at Liverpool University; helping to prepare international students for academic study in the UK. Sarah is now the co-director of InBusiness English, where she specialises in designing and delivering engaging worked-based communication courses for individuals who speak English as a first or second language.

James Lucop

James Lucop is co-owner and Financial Director of InBusiness English – a Manchester-based training company focusing on language and communication. James is involved in the day-to-day running of the business as well as creating and delivering training courses. James left University with a B.A. in Economics before going on to a career in finance and accounting, qualifying through CIMA (the Certified Institute of Management Accountants). James went on to work in a variety of financial roles in London and the South East for the next ten years.

After a decade of crunching numbers, James decided to hang up his calculator and try new and different pastures. James worked for one year in Vietnam, teaching scuba diving during the day as a PADI diving instructor – and in the evenings, teaching English to local people. This sparked James’s interest in teaching English and a few years later to a position in the Airbus Company in Hamburg teaching business and technical English to Airbus employees. On the return to the UK, James continued to draw on his business experience, teaching high-level business English with a language school in Manchester – then eventually launching training company, ‘InBusiness English’.

John specialises in award winning pragmatic leadership, business improvement and change programmes. This draws upon his 26 years senior operational / commercial expertise within industry. John is the founding director of Solution Focused, a learning and development consultancy working at a senior level across all sectors that has a proven record in enabling organisations to move forward in a results focused way, engaging their employees to deliver the return on investment and culture required.

In addition to John’s 26 years’ in business John is also academically qualified, holding a Post Graduate qualification in ‘Solution Focused Thinking, Leadership and Coaching’. The Solution Focused approach has been developed over many years and is based on Solution Focused Brief Therapy. This approach aims to help understand and change thinking, engaging powerful emotions in order to adopt new and improved solution focused actions & behaviours.
